The project consists in the implementation , in DRC ,Sud-Kivu Province , of two industrial drilling and purifying plants of 200,000,000Nm3 (two hundred million) total annual capacity production of natural methane gas from the Kivu Lake well known natural gas ore in the benefit of existing and future industries and manufactures , cities , towns and rural areas populations of the all Africa Greats Lake region.
Two potential sites one of 50,000,000Nm3 (fifty million) and the other one of 150,000,000Nm3.
The high objectives of drilling and purifying the Lake’s methane gas is mostly for:
* to provide needed energy to the high existing Cement Portland and tiles factories actually not operational due to the high gasoline price in the region.
* to supply additional electricity power needed for new and local urban area and power distribution extendable to the Orientale Province.
* to supply needed energy to smelters of potential iron mining industries respectively in Eastern Province and other various minerals such as tin, gold and coltan.
*to supply smelting energy to earmarked potential ferro-nickel’s mining industry ;
* to supply heating enegy to the existing brewery…
* to contribute by progressive move from artisanal mining exploitation of those minerals to industrial exploration .
* domestics users of both gas and electricity
* industrial users of both gas and electricity
– REGARDING MACRO AND MICRO ECONOMIC ASPECT
many activites can be launch in several industrial sectors such:
*electricity power production;
*plastic material production;
*funguses fertilisers for agriculture production;
*engine clean carburant production;
*paints and solvents prod;
*pesticides prod;
*metallurgical products (collombo-tantalite, stains, copper, gold, iron smelters,…);
* cement factories;
*tile factories;
*sodium carbonate,…
Hi Dear 401,
Thanks for your reply .
Regards,
dear 737,
Thank you,
With these information I am going to check their interest to go ahead.
I keep you posted,
best,
Dear 401,
We appreciate your interest for this project.
Yes, it’s still a greenfield project , same as KivuWatt to replicate and could be developed by a private company.
Currently, the government is planning to post a tender very soon for 3 blocs available So any interested partners can submit to the public offer.
On the other hand , the Asian group can write a letter of intent addressed to the minister of hydrocarbons, then we can organise an official visit in DRC to meet authorities , share and collect more insights.
This can give us a step ahead .
Our position in this project is to provide valuable informations , setup a local company if needed, organise meetings with authorities, assist during the bidding , facilitate to get all authorizations and lobbying .
Cordially,
Hi 737,
Thank you for your reply, information, and videos.
So if I understand well:
This is still a greenfield project, and you expect to replicate the KivuWatt project in DRC (not drilling gas but extracting it from water)
The project could be developed by a private company that is freshly supported by public authorities. Publci authorities have still to define more precisely what they want to do, with who… in order to setup a project company, to ensure exclusivity, and official support.
Some financing solutions could be already secured but this is not 100% confirmed. The company is also looking for financial partners.
The first question I will be asked is: how advanced is the project and how strong is the gvmt cimmitment in that project with that company… as it seems still very early stage
(there is no problem to communicate with the Asian Solution providers from now, but it is just to be sure to grasp the current situation)
With pleasure and interest to read more details on the full size of the expected infrastructures.
Best,
Hi 737,
Thank you for your answer.
I have discussed with the Asian o&g energy group yesterday, confirming their interest to know more about your project.
For your info: this group is among the main Asian o&g value chain solution provider (with nat gas treatment, processing, storage and transport solutions, but also active on oil, water solutions…).
My contact in this group is developing similar gas projects in emerging countries, is working with the board to look for new projects to develop.
But first I would need a bit more information to grasp the project and how advanced it is:
You plan to drill, process and distribute 200 mcm/y of nat gas.
– Is it a greenfield project, or is there any facility already existing?
– Are feasibility studies, geo survey …. Already done?
– Is it a project developed by private players or is it ordered and supported by public authorities?
– You told me that you are looking for solutions providers and not for financing. Does it mean, the project holder has already access and secured a financing solution?
– Information on expected infrastructures solutions would be appreciated (offshore, or inshore drilling facilities, size of the processing plant-s, distribution network…)
– ….
I am looking forward to reading from you,
Best,
401
Hi 401,
Happy to hear from you.
The project is located between three countries, DRC, Burundi and Rwanda.
***On our side it’s a green field project but on the other side of Rwanda , they have started operations few years ago.
*** Pre feasibilities studies have been made and geo survey too
*** it’s a project developt by a local private company supported by public authorities as you know we had a new government and president elected ; some of contracts will be reviewed…
*** financial solutions are welcome too … a public offering was made around Juin 2016 to select and create a consortium and progress with the project , coz they went over legal procedures…
*** offshore plant is needed ,
(p.s i will follow up with more precise details on the full size infrastructure)
Please check this link (existing projects by American company on the Rwandan side; as an example)

Hi , sorry for a late reply .
Yes of course we can introduce project to the Asian group .
Hi
200 mcm/y is a pretty big project
if you need only tech providers it should not be too complicated to issue a tender.
The main oild&gas field service provider (Schlumberger…..) will participate.
Even with a regional risk premium.
If needed I can introduce your project to an Asian group quite significant in natgas extracting and processing. They are present in emerging areas.
Hi ,
We mainly need tech solutions providers.
Investments are welcome too
Hi 737,
I have quick question on your gas production project in DRC.
what are you looking for?
invesment? tech solutions providers? Advisory?
best,
